For Algeria, the dream of another World Cup adventure is now a reality. The Desert Foxes became the latest African nation to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following a commanding 3-0 triumph over Somalia at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium.

It was a night of celebration in Oran as Mohammed Amoura struck twice before captain Riyad Mahrez added a trademark finish to seal victory and send Algeria back to football’s grandest stage.

The result lifted Algeria to 22 points, making them uncatchable in Group G with one game to spare — a home fixture against Uganda on October 14, 2025. It marks the country’s fifth World Cup appearance, following campaigns in 1982, 1986, 2010, and 2014, when they famously reached the Round of 16.

Coach Djamel Belmadi’s side have been a model of consistency throughout the qualifiers — a blend of flair, structure, and clinical finishing. With stars like Mahrez, Amoura, and Ismaël Bennacer leading the charge, Algeria have once again proven why they are among Africa’s elite footballing nations.

Their qualification also extends North Africa’s dominance on the continent, as Algeria joins Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt as confirmed representatives at next year’s tournament in Mexico, Canada, and the USA.

For a nation with a deep footballing heritage and passionate fanbase, this qualification is more than a sporting milestone — it’s a revival of belief and pride in a team that continues to carry the hopes of millions.
