Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC progressed to the round of 32 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup after registering a composed 2-0 victory over St George Masindi, thanks to goals from Emmanuel Anyama and Ivan Ahimbisibwe.

Playing away from home, the Kasasiro Boys approached the encounter with maturity and control, aware of the potential dangers that often come with facing lower-division opposition in the knockout competition. From the opening exchanges, KCCA sought to impose their rhythm, dominating possession and patiently probing for openings against a disciplined St George side that was determined to frustrate the visitors.

The breakthrough eventually arrived through Emmanuel Anyama, whose intelligent movement and sharp finishing gave KCCA a deserved lead. His goal not only eased early nerves but also underlined the visitors’ growing authority in the contest. St George attempted to respond by pushing numbers forward, but KCCA’s defensive organisation ensured the hosts found it difficult to create clear-cut chances.

After the interval, the game opened up as St George chased an equaliser, leaving gaps that KCCA were quick to exploit. The visitors remained calm, circulating the ball effectively and managing the tempo to deny their opponents any sustained momentum. Their patience was rewarded when Ivan Ahimbisibwe struck to double the advantage, a goal that effectively sealed the tie and drained belief from the Masindi-based side.

With a two-goal cushion, KCCA shifted focus to game management, keeping possession and limiting risks as the minutes ticked away. St George continued to show spirit, but the gulf in experience became evident as KCCA closed out the match without alarm.

The win sees KCCA FC advance confidently in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, reaffirming their ambition in a competition that offers not only silverware but also a pathway to continental football. For St George Masindi, the defeat ends their cup journey, though their spirited display against top-flight opposition will provide encouragement as they turn attention back to their league campaign.
