“There is a lot expected of me from my teammates and the fans, but I want to pledge my commitment and determination to help us win games and titles this season.”
Those were the first words of new Kitara FC defender Bonney Christopher after completing a two-year move to the Uganda Cup holders ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The Ghanaian centre-back said he understands the challenge awaiting him at the Royals but is determined to make an immediate impact.
“I know the task ahead, but I’m here to improve as a player and help my team achieve success. I can’t wait to get started,” Bonney added.
Kitara have moved early in the transfer market as they prepare for a busy season that includes the CAF Confederation Cup, Uganda Premier League and Stanbic Uganda Cup. Bonney becomes the club’s first signing of the window and is expected to strengthen the defensive unit with his experience and versatility.

Primarily a central defender, the 27-year-old is equally capable of playing at right-back and in defensive midfield, offering head coach Wasswa Bbosa valuable tactical options. He will battle for a place in the starting lineup alongside Murushid Jjuuko, Isa Lumu, Benjamin Nyakoojo and Samuel Kato Nimeyimana.
Bbosa welcomed the acquisition, revealing that the club had been tracking the defender before securing his signature.
“We have been monitoring him for a while and we are delighted to add him to the squad. He has a positive mentality, good experience and he brings real competition for places. He will be an important player for us next season,” the coach said.
Bonney arrives with extensive experience from the Ghana Premier League, where he featured for Asante Kotoko, Ebusua Dwarfs, Hearts of Oak and Kerala United before moving to Tajikistan to join Panjsher Balkh.
Across his career in Ghana, he made more than 40 league appearances before adding another 22 matches during his stint with Panjsher Balkh in the 2023/24 season. His arrival is expected to reinforce Kitara’s backline as the club targets success on both the domestic and continental fronts.
