City Oilers delivered a commanding performance on Thursday night, dismantling JKL Dolphins 93-58 in a dominant National Basketball League display at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
The emphatic win not only boosted morale but also confirmed the Oilers’ qualification for the upcoming playoffs, putting to rest any doubts about their postseason status.
Right from tip-off, the Oilers set the tempo, racing to a 29-19 advantage by the end of the first quarter. Their aggressive offense and tight defensive setup left JKL chasing shadows.
In the second quarter, Benjamin Kawumi stepped up with a pair of deep threes, helping his side widen the gap to an 18-point cushion as the teams headed into halftime.
After the break, the Oilers showed no signs of letting up. Kawumi nailed yet another triple to cap off the third quarter, as the defending champions surged to a 74-46 lead—putting the contest firmly out of reach.
By the final buzzer, City Oilers had completed a 35-point blowout that underscored their title intentions. Mer Maker led all scorers with 23 points, supported by Kawumi (19), Fayed Baale (18), Rogers JB Dauna (12), and Joseph Chuma (10) as five Oilers players hit double figures.
For JKL Dolphins, Kesseng Kesseng (16 points) and Benon Wobusobozi (13 points) offered the few bright spots in an otherwise one-sided affair.
With the playoffs around the corner, the Oilers look well-tuned and ready to defend their crown.
