The FUFA Disciplinary Committee has ruled that the FUFA Women Cup quarterfinal match between She Corporate FC and Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC to be partially replayed, following an appeal from Kawempe over a breach of tournament procedures.

The committee’s decision comes after a controversial end to the match, which saw Kawempe Muslim eliminated 6-5 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regular time. However, the game proceeded directly to a penalty shootout without the mandatory extra time, in violation of the competition’s official rules.

According to Article 20(3) of the FUFA Women Cup regulations, if a quarterfinal match ends in a draw after 90 minutes, it must go into extra time consisting of two 15-minute halves. Only if the score remains tied after extra time should a penalty shootout be used to determine the winner, as stipulated in Article 20(4).

Kawempe Muslim lodged a formal protest after their elimination, citing the failure to follow these prescribed procedures. Their case was further strengthened by the fact that, on the same day, another quarterfinal match between Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC and Lady Doves followed the correct format. That fixture ended 1-1 in regulation, proceeded to extra time, and then to penalties, where Uganda Martyrs triumphed 3-0.

In light of these facts, the Disciplinary Committee ruled in favor of Kawempe Muslim, granting their request to complete the match with the 30 minutes of extra time that were initially omitted. The FUFA Competitions Committee has now been tasked with deciding the venue and scheduling the continuation of the match.

This ruling reaffirms FUFA’s commitment to fair play and strict adherence to competition regulations. By allowing the match to resume from where the error occurred, the federation ensures both teams are given an equitable chance to advance based on merit and within the framework of the established rules.

The resumption of the match will be closely watched by fans and stakeholders alike, as the outcome could reshape the path to the semifinals in this year’s FUFA Women Cup.
