The second round of the National Basketball League (NBL) tips off this Friday, May 30, at Lugogo Indoor Arena with two thrilling matchups that promise top-tier basketball in both the women’s and men’s divisions.

KCCA Leopards vs. JKL Lady Dolphins – 7:00 PM

In the women’s division, league leaders KCCA Leopards face off against reigning champions JKL Lady Dolphins in a clash that could shake up the standings. KCCA currently lead the table with 19 points from 9 wins and just 1 loss. Close behind are the Dolphins in third place with 18 points from 8 wins and 2 losses.

With playoff seeding on the line, Friday’s game is more than just a rivalry—it’s a battle for the top spot. A win for JKL would see them leapfrog KCCA in the standings as the postseason approaches.

The two teams last met on May 17, when KCCA came out on top with a 75-67 victory. That night, Tracy Namugosa stole the spotlight, scoring 29 points and recording 8 steals. She’ll be a key player to watch again in this rematch.

Namuwongo Blazers vs. JT Jaguars – 9:00 PM

In the men’s game, the unbeaten Namuwongo Blazers take the court against the JT Jaguars in what promises to be an intense showdown. The Blazers have been flawless so far, racking up 11 wins and sitting comfortably at the top with 22 points.

The Jaguars, tied at 18 points with the UCU Canons and Kampala Rockets (7 wins, 4 losses each), are in a tight race to stay in the top four. A loss could see them slip to fifth, adding urgency to Friday night’s clash.

In their previous encounter, the Blazers dominated the Jaguars 83-57. JT will be aiming to rewrite that script this time around.

Namuwongo’s trio of Jimmy Enabu, James Okello, and Michael Makiadi have powered the team’s success all season. In their last meeting with the Jaguars, Enabu scored 21 points, Okello posted a double-double, and Makiadi delivered from beyond the arc.

JT’s hopes will rest on the shoulders of Mark Were, who also had 21 points in that earlier matchup, and Aaron Eboyu, who’s been a consistent performer throughout the campaign.

With playoff positions on the line and pride at stake, Friday night’s doubleheader is one fans won’t want to miss.
