After a four-year break, the 2024 MTN FUFA Awards make a grand return tonight (Friday) at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

This year’s ceremony introduces a new category, Media Personality of the Year, with different journalists nominated.

The night’s biggest highlights include the Male and Female Footballer of the Year awards, with each winner set to receive a brand-new car.

Patrick Kakande

Male Footballer of the Year:

SC Villa’s Patrick Jonah Kakande is the favorite, following a standout year where he led Villa to their 17th league title and claimed four UPL awards, including MVP.

Other strong contenders include teammate Ronald Ssekiganda, Denis Omedi (Kitara), Jude Ssemugabi (Kitara), and Allan Okello (Vipers), all of whom shone both domestically and with the Uganda Cranes.

Female Footballer of the Year:

Teen sensation Agnes Nabukenya of Kawempe Muslim leads the race after a stellar 2024, winning the Women Super League, multiple school titles, and excelling in international competitions.
She’s joined by goalkeepers Daisy Nakaziro, Resty Kobusobozi, Shamirah Nalugya, and Zainah Nandede, all of whom had impressive seasons.

Winners will be decided through a combination of online votes and a technical panel.
