Janan Secondary School, Bombo Campus has declared itself fully prepared to host the seventh edition of the USSSA Elite Secondary Schools Games, with head teacher Joseph Mukwaya expressing confidence in the school’s capacity and facilities.
“We are privileged to host the Elite Secondary School Games. For parents and students who value sports and games, Janan is the right place because we have all the facilities required to stage competitions of this level,” Mukwaya said, underlining the school’s growing profile as a hub for school sports.

His remarks followed the final inspection conducted on February 4 by a delegation from the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) and key stakeholders. The team was led by USSSA Chief Executive Officer Mugisha Christopher and included officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports, executive committee members, and USSSA’s competitions, marketing and communications directors.
The inspection cleared Janan SS to host the games from February 26 to March 1, 2026. The dates were adjusted from the initially planned February 14 to 16 to align with the reopening of schools on February 10.
The USSSA Elite Games bring together the top eight schools that excelled at national championships in the previous year, making the event one of the most competitive fixtures on the school sports calendar. This year’s programme will feature basketball, netball, rugby sevens, volleyball, handball and football.

USSSA CEO Mugisha Christopher praised the readiness of the host, noting that Janan SS boasts suitable on-site facilities for several disciplines, including handball, netball, volleyball and football. He added that nearby venues such as Standard High School Ndejje, Bombo Army Secondary School, Ndejje University and Ndejje Secondary School will supplement the competition areas.
Mugisha also commended Janan SS for committing to provide mattresses for all participating teams, a gesture he described as a strong show of hospitality.
The previous edition of the Elite Games was staged at St Joseph of Nazareth in Mpigi, and expectations are high that Janan SS will build on that legacy when the country’s best school teams converge in Bombo later this month.
