Kampala Queens are the newly crowned champions of the 2024/25 FUFA Women Super League. The “Queens of Soccer” secured the title on Saturday, despite suffering their first defeat of the season, a 2-1 loss to Kawempe Muslim at MTN-Omondi Stadium.
The highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash was a test of character for Kampala Queens, who entered the match aiming to complete an invincible season, a feat rarely achieved in the league’s history.

Having emphatically beaten Kawempe 4-1 in the first leg, Kampala Queens only needed to avoid a similar defeat to seal the title, with FUFA’s head-to-head rule in mind.
But Kawempe Muslim, inspired by teenage prodigy Agnes Nabukenya, had other plans. Nabukenya struck twice, including a first-half penalty, to lead her team to a spirited victory.
Kampala Queens had a golden chance to go ahead in the 20th minute when they were awarded a penalty, but captain Shamirah Nalugya failed to convert. Nabukenya made no mistake from the spot just before halftime, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead at the break.

Peace Muduwa came off the bench to score with her first touch in the 52nd minute, momentarily restoring parity. However, Nabukenya struck again six minutes later, and her second goal proved decisive.
The result marked the first loss under head coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal, who took charge of the team in November.
Nonetheless, Kampala Queens remain top of the table with 46 points, six clear of second-placed Kawempe Muslim, with two matches remaining.
Kampala Queens are set to travel to Tooro Queens next, before wrapping up their season at home against She Maroons FC.
