KCCA FC will be looking to break a seven-year jinx without a silverware when they face archrivals Vipers SC in the Uganda Cup final this Saturday at the FUFA Kadiba Stadium.

The 10-time Uganda Cup champions booked their spot in the final with an emphatic 4-1 aggregate win over Kataka FC in the semifinals. As they prepare for the showdown, KCCA will draw inspiration from their 2018 victory over Vipers, when Julius Poloto’s goal secured a 1-0 win in the final.

For head coach Jackson Magera, the clash offers a chance to rescue what has been a disappointing season. KCCA finished fifth in the Uganda Premier League, trailing champions Vipers by a staggering 19 points. A cup win would provide a valuable silver lining.

In a timely boost, midfielder Peter Magambo returns from suspension to bolster a fully fit Kasasiro Boys squad.

On the other side, Vipers SC are chasing a historic domestic double, having clinched the league title earlier this month. They reached the final with a 2-0 aggregate triumph over defending champions Kitara FC.

Despite being without suspended defender Hillary Mukundane, the Venoms remain confident. With three Uganda Cup titles to their name, they are appearing in their fourth final in five years.

A win on Saturday would see Vipers join SC Villa as the only Ugandan clubs to complete the domestic double more than once.
