Namuwongo Blazers maintained their unbeaten record with a commanding 81-71 win over JT Jaguars on Friday night at Lugogo Indoor Arena, kicking off their second-round campaign in the National Basketball League in style.
After a slow start that saw them trail 19-15 at the end of the first quarter, the Blazers bounced back strongly with a 26-19 second-quarter surge to take a 41-38 lead into halftime. From there, they seized control and never looked back, holding onto their advantage through the remainder of the game.
Innocent Ochera led the way with a game-high 20 points, including an efficient 4-of-6 from three-point range. He received solid support from Tonny Drilleba (14 points), James Okello (12), and Michael Makiadi (12), underlining the Blazers’ offensive depth.
For the Jaguars, Aaron John Eboyu and Ian Lubwama delivered standout performances with 22 and 20 points respectively. However, a lack of additional scoring options hindered coach Sudi Ulanga’s team.
Despite narrowly winning the rebounding battle (51-50) and committing fewer turnovers (17-24), the Jaguars struggled from beyond the arc, converting just 5-of-17 from long range—a factor that proved decisive.
With the victory, the Blazers move to a perfect 12-0 on the season and complete a season sweep of the Jaguars, having beaten them 83-57 in the first round.
