The battle lines are officially drawn. Kenya’s U-17 women’s national football team, the Junior Starlets, Monday held their final intensive training session on home soil before they board their flight to Uganda Tuesday.

The Starlets are heading into enemy territory for a highly anticipated first-leg clash against Uganda’s Teen Cranes, scheduled for Friday, 22nd May.

With the regional bragging rights and crucial qualification points on the line, the Kenyan technical bench isn’t taking any chances. Today’s session focused heavily on tactical shape, quick transitions, and set-piece perfection.

Speaking after the final training session, Junior Starlets Coach Mildred Cheche expressed confidence in her squad’s readiness to face a tough Ugandan side in front of their home fans. “We know what is at stake, and we know Uganda is a solid team, especially when playing at home. But the girls are motivated, disciplined, and ready to fight for a positive result to take back to Nairobi,” said Coach Cheche.

The mood in the camp remains upbeat. Key players Mwanakombo Bakari and Beverline Awuor also shared their thoughts, echoing their coach’s confidence and urging fans to rally behind the team. The squad looks physically sharp and mentally prepared for the hostile atmosphere that awaits them in Kampala.

For Ugandan football fans, this fixture promises pure drama. The Teen Cranes will be looking to utilize their home advantage and secure a comfortable cushion before traveling to Nairobi for the return leg.
