Ugandan steeplechase runner Peruth Chemutai has claimed a silver medal in the women’s 3000m steeplechase final at the Paris 2025 Wanda Diamond League.
Chemutai finished second with a season’s best time of 8:54.41, behind Kenya’s Faith Cherotich, who set a world lead with 8:53.37.
Chemutai’s Impressive Performance
Chemutai’s silver medal adds to her impressive collection, following her gold medal win in the 3000m steeplechase at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Her record-breaking performance in Paris solidifies her position as a top athlete in the sport.
A Star Athlete
The 25-year-old Chemutai has been making waves in the athletics world since her early days. She won silver medals in the 1500m and 3000m at the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games and stunned favorites to win gold at the Tokyo Olympics. Chemutai’s goal is to conquer the Tokyo World Athletics Championships in September.
