St. Lawrence University (SLAU) put up a resilient performance to secure a crucial 1-1 draw against Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) in their semifinal first leg in Mbale.
Despite taking the lead through Patrick Ssekyanzi in the 25th minute, SLAU found themselves under heavy pressure, eventually conceding to Calvin Otim’s equalizer in the 41st minute.

The second half saw IUIU intensify their attacks, with Faraj Mugambe and Shieli Ladhu troubling SLAU’s defense. However, Vincent Agaku and Joshua Ojok held firm to ensure their side left with a valuable result.
Midfielder Stuart Mutebi acknowledged the difficulty of the match but remained optimistic about SLAU’s chances in the return leg, highlighting the importance of their away goal.

With the return leg scheduled for next week on Thursday at Kavule, SLAU will need to capitalize on their home advantage to reach the final.
