Bright Stars registered a 3-1 win over Police FC to improve their fight against relegation in the Uganda Premier League.
Nelson Ssenkatuka’s brace and Noordin Bunjo’s opener secured their third league victory in 22 matches. Despite a second half goal from Adewale Bojo, Police FC couldn’t mount a comeback.
Bright Stars showed urgency from the start, and their early pressure paid off when Noordin Bunjo took advantage of a defensive mistake to open the scoring in the eighth minute. This set the tone for a dominant first half, with Nelson Ssenkatuka quickly doubling the lead just two minutes later.

For Police FC, this defeat marks their seventh of the season, highlighting their inconsistent form. Despite a stronger second-half performance, they couldn’t recover from Bright Stars’ early onslaught. With relegation looming, Bright Stars will need to build on this momentum to stay in the Uganda Premier League.
Bright Stars’ goalkeeper Shamulan Kamya played a pivotal role in securing the victory, making key saves to deny Police FC any real chance of a comeback. Nelson Ssenkatuka’s stunning free kick in the 32nd minute gave the hosts a commanding 3-0 lead, effectively sealing the game before halftime.
Police FC showed more intent in the second half, with Umar Kasumba and Emmanuel Mugume coming close, but Kamya remained solid. Daniel Jakony’s 72nd-minute goal was merely a consolation as Bright Stars held firm for a much-needed win.
This result sees Bright Stars climb to 14th place with 15 points, while Police FC remain 12th with 23 points. With only a few games left, Bright Stars will need more performances like this to secure survival.
