With the National Basketball League playoffs fast approaching, UCU Lady Canons and JKL Lady Dolphins will use Friday’s meeting at Lugogo to gauge their readiness for the challenges ahead.
The Lady Canons have already secured second place in the standings and are focused on carrying momentum into the postseason. Coach Nicholas Natuhereza’s side has enjoyed another impressive campaign, suffering defeats only against table leaders JT Lady Jaguars, and will be eager to maintain their strong form in the closing stages of the regular season.
For JKL, attention is already beginning to shift toward a daunting playoff quarterfinal showdown against the Jaguars. The defending champions have endured a turbulent season, with injuries and player absences disrupting their title defence and leaving them to settle for eighth place.
Despite their struggles, JKL have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks and will hope to continue building confidence after welcoming back key guard Brenda Ekone from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The last time the two teams met, UCU produced one of their most convincing performances of the season, racing to an early lead before comfortably claiming victory. That result will give the Mukono-based side confidence, but with the playoffs around the corner, both teams are likely to view Friday’s encounter as an opportunity to sharpen their systems and test combinations.
