Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has announced that following a strategic review by their Board to further enhance the growth and development of Cricket in Uganda, Mr. John Bipin Walusimbi ceases to be the their CEO effective 25/02/24.
Ms. Evelyne Kabongera the Current Financial Accountant will be Acting in the capacity of CEO as a permanent replacement is sought to steward the Secretariat.
“The UCA board takes the opportunity to thank Mr. John Walusimbi Bipin for his work and contribution to UCA and wish him the best in his future endeavors,” read the statement.
Walusimbi, a former senior operations manager at KCB Uganda Limited, took over the role from Alan Mugume who had served the association as CEO since July 2022 before his resignation.
The National Council of Sports recognized cricket as a priority sport two years ago and since then the funding to cricket from the government has risen from 500M to 1.2B currently.
