It was a replica of the opening round of the ICC Men’s World Cup League B this afternoon in Hong Kong where Uganda cleared a 243-run hurdle to beat Singapore by 8 wickets while, elsewhere, Tanzania lost to Bahrain by 6 wickets.

It was Uganda’s second consecutive victory and vice versa to the Tanzanian envoys. Uganda defeated Bahrain in their event’s opener while Tanzania suffered an 8-wicket loss to Italy in their opening match at Kowloon Club ground in Kowloon on Wednesday.

In their match held at Kowloon Club ground, Singapore opted to bat first and their efforts handed them 243 runs with a loss of  9 wickets after completing all 50 overs.

Ugandans were very cautious in chasing the score as they managed to hit over 100 runs without losing a wicket.

Buoyed by Raghav Dhawan’s powerful onslaught, Uganda managed to overcome their opponents’ score after posting  245  runs with a loss of only 2 wickets using 40 of the allotted 50 overs. Uganda walked out of the pitch with a glaring 8-wicket victory.

Besides Dhawan who was a man of the match, Uganda’s Henry Ssenyondo who claimed 4 wickets, Cosmas Kyewuta who added   2 wickets and Kenneth Waiswa took 1 wicket contributed much to their team’s hard-earned victory.

The going was tough for Tanzania at the  Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok after losing to Bahrain by 6 wickets in their second match of the global-level cricket showdown.

Tanzania elected to start batting and the best they fired was the 139 runs all out.

The poor score gave Baharain a simple test and they solved it with a 6-wicket win after posting 140 runs, losing 4 wickets in the process.

Sohail Ahmed was instrumental in Bahrain’s victory as he scored 57 runs from 87 balls assisted by  Muhammed Basil who created 33 runs from 56 balls.

Akhil Anil who scored  57 runs from 97 balls and Sivaraj Selvaraj who added 27  runs from 69 balls, were the best earners for Tanzania at the Mission Road Ground.
