Uganda’s U17 Men’s National Team, affectionately known as the Cubs, have embarked on the next phase of their historic journey to the FIFA U17 World Cup Qatar 2025, departing for Dubai on Tuesday for a crucial international training camp.

The 10-day Dubai camp, featuring 26 players and 12 officials led by FUFA Executive Committee Member Rasoul Ariga, marks the final stage of the team’s preparation before they make their maiden appearance on football’s global youth stage from 3rd to 27th November. The camp will include intensive training sessions and a series of friendly matches against top youth sides, giving the technical team the opportunity to fine-tune tactics, assess fitness, and test mental resilience under international conditions.

Prior to departure, the Cubs wrapped up domestic preparations with a dominant 5–0 win over Amus College School at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba. James Bogere’s hat-trick, along with goals from Walusimbi Abubakali and Kamurungi Nuwagaba, highlighted the squad’s attacking prowess. Head Coach Brian Ssenyondo praised the team’s growth and readiness, noting that the players have steadily improved their execution in the final third and displayed tactical maturity during the camp.

“This was our last home-friendly before heading to Dubai,” Ssenyondo said. “The camp abroad will give the players exposure to different playing styles and help boost their confidence ahead of the World Cup. Our improvement day by day is encouraging, and we are optimistic about making a strong impression in Qatar.”

The Cubs have been training at FUFA Hotel Kisaasi since 7th October 2025, building cohesion and sharpening their strategies under Ssenyondo’s guidance. The final 21-player squad for the World Cup will be announced at the conclusion of the Dubai camp.

Uganda has been drawn in Group K alongside Canada, Chile, and France, with their campaign kicking off against Canada on 5th November.
