It was a buzzing Sunday at Carol House in Kampala, as women from across Uganda converged for “Revving Up: Women in Motorsport Uganda (WIMU),” a pioneering workshop aimed at breaking barriers in the fast-paced world of motorsports.

The energy was electric, fueled by the organizers a passionate group of Ugandan women drivers and enthusiasts determined to show that motorsport isn’t just a “boys’ club.”
Special guests Pauline Shegu, a rising Kenyan rally star, and Linet Ayuko, a sharp navigator, brought the room to life. “We’re here to tell you it’s possible,” Pauline said with a grin. “Motorsport is skill, passion, courage and ladies, we’ve got all of that.”
The workshop dived into rally basics: handling cars, decoding pace notes, and conquering tight corners. Linet shared thrilling stories from Africa’s toughest rallies, stressing teamwork and strategy over just speed. “It’s not just about going fast, it’s about being smart,” she said.
Led by co-driver Zubedah Ali, the Ugandan organizers beamed with pride. “This is just the start. We’re building a community, supporting each other, and dreaming big maybe one day, a Ugandan woman on the WRC podium.”

As it wrapped up, Pauline challenged the group: “Don’t wait for an invite. Get involved, find a crew, and hit the dirt roads!” The women cheered, already plotting their next move. The engines are revving, and the road ahead looks thrilling!

Sounds like an amazing event! I’m really impressed to see so many Ugandan women getting involved in motorsport – it’s fantastic to see this kind of support and encouragement.
