The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) revealed schools that are still banned and will not take in any competition this year.
A two-year ban was imposed on schools due to violations such as age cheating, use of ineligible players, misconduct, and document forgery. The affected schools include St. Andrews Kaggwa Gombe High School, Royal Giants High School, Tororo Town College, Madinah Islamic, and Musana Vocational High School.
Age Cheating and Use of Ineligible Players
Age cheating, involving the fielding of overage players in youth tournaments, has been a persistent issue in Ugandan school sports. This malpractice undermines fair competition and player development. USSSA has been actively combating this vice, implementing strict measures to deter such behavior.
Misconduct and Violence
Instances of unacceptable behavior by players, coaches, or fans have also led to sanctions. USSSA emphasizes the importance of sportsmanship and has taken steps to address misconduct to maintain the integrity of school sports competitions.
Forgery of Documents
Falsifying academic or player records to gain competitive advantage is a serious offense. USSSA’s stringent policies aim to uphold the authenticity and integrity of participant information, ensuring a level playing field for all competitors.
These measures reflect USSSA’s commitment to promoting fairness, discipline, and ethical conduct in Ugandan secondary school sports.
