Vipers SC delivered a statement performance at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, cruising to a dominant 4-1 win over Police FC to tighten their grip on the Uganda Premier League summit.

From the opening exchanges, the Venoms dictated play with purpose and patience, probing the Police defence and steadily building pressure. Early chances fell their way as Enock Ssebagala and Brian Obedi signalled intent, forcing the visitors onto the back foot even if the finishing touch initially lacked precision.

The breakthrough eventually arrived just after the half-hour mark when skipper Milton Karisa rose to the occasion, driving home a well-timed finish after neat work from Karim Watambala, who was once again at the heart of everything creative for the hosts.

Usama was named man of the match.

Vipers sensed blood and struck twice in quick succession before the interval. Watambala lit up Kitende with a thunderous effort that kissed the crossbar on its way in, and moments later Odili Chukwuma powered in a close-range header to leave Police reeling at halftime.

Police showed brief resistance after the restart, pulling one back through Saidi Kyeyune, whose low shot squeezed through a crowded penalty area to momentarily lift the visitors’ hopes. That optimism, however, was short-lived.
The league leaders quickly reasserted control and wrapped up the contest in the 73rd minute when Usama Arafat met Yunus Sentamu’s inviting delivery with a commanding header to restore Vipers’ three-goal cushion.

The emphatic win keeps Vipers perched at the top of the standings with 33 points from 13 matches, while Police remain in third, now facing increased pressure as the title race gathers momentum.
