Substitute Yunus Ssentamu was the hero of the evening as his stoppage-time goal handed Vipers SC a crucial 1-0 victory over Kitara FC in the first leg of the Uganda Cup semi-finals, played today at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

In a tightly contested affair, both sides displayed defensive discipline and tactical organization, limiting clear scoring opportunities.

Kitara held their ground for most of the match, frustrating the hosts with resolute defending and timely interceptions.

However, just when the game looked destined to end in a stalemate, Ssentamu rose to the occasion in added time.

The forward latched onto a loose ball in the box and calmly slotted home, sending the home crowd into celebration and giving Vipers the edge heading into the return leg.

The second leg on May 17 is expected to be a thrilling encounter as Kitara will be seeking to overturn the deficit, while Vipers aim to protect their lead and book a spot in the Uganda Cup final.
