Emmanuel Anyama scored a brilliant brace while Ashraf Mugume added another as KCCA FC comfortably defeated FUFA Big League side Kataka FC 3-0 in the first leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-finals at Lugogo.

The ten-time Uganda Cup champions showed intent from the start, dominating possession and creating chances. Anyama opened the scoring towards the end of the first half, finishing off a flowing team move to give the home side the lead before half time.

Anyama doubled the advantage shortly after the restart, striking from the edge of the box with a well-placed effort that left the Kataka goalkeeper rooted.

Ashraf Mugume sealed the result with the third of the evening with a composed finish after a defensive lapse by Kataka, putting KCCA in firm control of the tie ahead of the return leg.
Kataka, who had knocked out top-tier sides URA FC and Police FC on penalties in previous rounds, struggled to match KCCA’s pace and organization on the day.

The result puts KCCA in pole position to reach the Uganda Cup final as they look to salvage silverware from what has otherwise been a challenging season.
The two sides will face again in the return leg on May 18.
