Preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 have taken a major step forward following the conclusion of an intensive eight-day inspection tour across the three East African co-hosts, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 2 to 30, 2025.
The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) led the final series of venue assessments and operational workshops, beginning in Nairobi on July 3. There, officials reviewed facilities at Kasarani Stadium set to host the final and Nyayo International Stadium.
From Kenya, the CAF delegation traveled to Zanzibar for a comprehensive inspection of Amaan Stadium, before heading to Dar es Salaam where the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium will host the tournament’s opening ceremony.
The tour concluded on July 9 at Kampala’s Mandela National Stadium, the key Ugandan venue for CHAN 2024.
CAF dispatched heads of departments across Competitions, Media, Broadcast, Infrastructure, Safety & Security, and Marketing, who worked alongside Local Organising Committee teams from all three countries. The collaborative review focused not only on infrastructure but also on operational readiness.
With the tournament draw and opening match just weeks away, CAF hailed the inspection mission as a milestone moment in East Africa’s joint hosting of the continental football spectacle.
The organization extended its gratitude to the governments and organizing committees of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda for their commitment and coordination in ensuring a world-class CHAN experience.
