Jacques Mangoba says joining StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC presents the perfect opportunity to compete for major honours after completing a two-year move to the Kitende-based club.
The 25-year-old Democratic Republic of Congo defender expressed his excitement after sealing the transfer, saying he is eager to begin a new chapter with one of East Africa’s most ambitious clubs.

“Joining Vipers SC is an exciting opportunity for me. I have followed the club’s progress and ambitions, and I’m proud to become part of this family,” Mangoba said.
“I can’t wait to meet my teammates, work with the coaches and give everything for the badge. I want to help the team win trophies and make our supporters proud.”
Mangoba becomes Vipers’ latest acquisition ahead of the new season as the Uganda Premier League champions continue strengthening their squad for another busy campaign that includes the league, Stanbic Uganda Cup, CECAFA Kagame Cup and CAF Champions League.
The versatile right-back arrives with extensive experience across African football, having previously featured for DR Congo heavyweights AS Vita Club and AS Simba before moving to Angolan side Sagrada Esperança.

Standing at 1.86 metres, Mangoba is recognised for his physical strength, pace and tactical awareness, while also offering an attacking threat from the right flank. His arrival is expected to provide healthy competition for Ashraf Mandela as Vipers seek greater depth across the backline.
Head coach Denis Lavagne welcomed the signing, describing the Congolese defender as an ideal fit for the club’s ambitions.
“Jacques is a defender with the physical attributes, experience and mentality we were looking for,” Lavagne said.
“He understands the demands of African football, brings quality in both defence and attack, and will strengthen our options in an important position. We are pleased to welcome him to Vipers SC.”

Mangoba is the latest addition to the Venoms’ squad following the arrival of Uganda Cranes midfielder Joel Sserunjogi, underlining the club’s determination to assemble a team capable of defending its domestic crown while making a stronger impact in continental competition.
With experience gained in some of Africa’s toughest leagues, the Congolese international is expected to play a key role as Vipers pursue success on multiple fronts during the upcoming season.
