The KIU Rangers pulled off a remarkable comeback on Friday night, toppling the UCU Lady Canons 64–57 in a spirited National Basketball League showdown at the YMCA Court.
After a sluggish start that saw them fall behind 22–11 in the first quarter, the Rangers flipped the script with a dominant performance in the second and third periods. They capped off the rally with a composed finish in the final stretch, highlighted by a clutch basket from Ines Kanyamuneza that sealed the deal.
Sharon Kirabo was unstoppable, pouring in a game-high 24 points to spearhead KIU’s resurgence. Racheal Nanyonga added 12 vital points, as the Rangers bounced back from recent struggles with one of their most important wins of the season.

UCU’s familiar inconsistency reared its head again. Despite a promising start, they faltered under pressure. Matrina Anyango posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards, while Sylvia Nantongo put up a monster performance of 22 rebounds and 12 points. Sylvia Nakituuka added 14 points in a losing effort.
With the win, KIU leapfrogs into fifth place and strengthens their playoff ambitions, creating breathing space over sixth-placed Magic Stormers. UCU, meanwhile, remain in fourth but are now just one game ahead of a fast-closing KIU.
