Ugandan midfield dynamo Ronald Ssekiganda has reportedly sealed a switch to Rwandan giants APR FC, signing a two-year deal after ending his tenure with SC Villa.
The former Jogoo’s captain joins the Rwanda Premier League champions as a free agent, marking a significant step in his football journey.
Ssekiganda, who wore the captain’s armband for SC Villa during the recently concluded 2023/24 season, was instrumental in guiding the club to its long-awaited league title. His leadership followed the departure of Kenneth Semakula, who moved to Tunisia’s Club Africain last year.
With Ssekiganda’s exit, SC Villa has now seen three consecutive captains leave in successive years, starting with Gift Fred in 2023, then Semakula in 2024, and now Ssekiganda in 2025.
This ongoing turnover of leadership highlights both the quality of talent at Villa and the challenge of maintaining squad continuity.
The 26-year-old joined SC Villa in 2019 from CATDA, a Kampala Regional League outfit, and quickly rose through the ranks. That same year, he earned widespread recognition after leading Bulemeezi to the Masaza Cup title and scooping the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award.

At APR FC, Ssekiganda will reunite with familiar faces from his SC Villa days, including forward Hakim Kiwanuka and defender Denis Omedi. He also joins a squad that features Uganda Cranes midfielder Taddeo Lwanga, adding to the growing Ugandan presence in the Rwandan league.
APR FC, known for its dominance in East African football, recently wrapped up the Rwandan top-flight season with 67 points from 30 matches, reaffirming their status as the country’s leading club.
For Ssekiganda, the move offers both a fresh challenge and a chance to further elevate his career on the regional stage.
According to reports, Ssekiganda finalised the move even without the consent of his agency.
