Vipers SC turned on the style after the break to comfortably dispatch Entebbe UPPC 3-0 at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, stretching their lead at the top of the Uganda Premier League to a commanding seven points.

For long spells in the first half, the contest was far tighter than the final scoreline suggests. Vipers dominated territory and chances but were repeatedly frustrated by a resilient UPPC backline that held firm under pressure. Junior Yunus Ssentamu even had an early effort ruled out for offside, while another goal-bound attempt was heroically cleared off the line.

UPPC, meanwhile, showed glimpses of danger on the counter, nearly capitalising on a defensive mix-up, but goalkeeper Derrick Kiggundu stayed alert to deny them.

The breakthrough finally arrived moments after the restart, and it shifted the entire momentum of the game. Ssentamu rose highest to power home a header from a Karim Watambala corner, giving the hosts the lead they had long threatened.

From there, Vipers grew in confidence and control. UPPC tried to respond with spells of possession, but the Venoms remained composed and lethal when it mattered most. Ssentamu struck again in the 76th minute, finishing off a slick move initiated by Enock Ssebagala to effectively kill off the contest.

Substitute Gusto Mulongo then added gloss to the result, heading in a third just minutes after coming on, capping a dominant second-half display from the league leaders.

The victory takes Vipers to 58 points, opening a seven-point gap over their closest challengers—SC Villa, KCCA, and Kitara—who are all locked on 51 points. UPPC are seventh with 40 points. With a game still in hand, the Venoms have tightened their grip on the title race, leaving the chasing pack with a steep hill to climb in the closing weeks of the season.
