Tunisia have made a dramatic change on the bench by appointing veteran coach Hervé Renard to steer the team through the remainder of the 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
The North Africans acted swiftly following a disappointing start to the tournament that left their hopes of progressing under serious threat. The decision brings an end to Sabri Lamouchi’s brief spell in charge after a difficult run of results.
Renard arrives with an extensive international résumé, having previously managed several African national teams, including Zambia, Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire, as well as a successful stint with Saudi Arabia.
The experienced French tactician now faces the task of reviving Tunisia’s fortunes, with his first assignment set to come against Japan on June 20.
His appointment signals Tunisia’s determination to salvage their World Cup challenge and draw on Renard’s vast tournament experience as they seek a route back into contention.
