Victoria Crocs pulled off a hard-fought 74-66 overtime win over JT Jaguars in a gripping National Basketball League (NBL) showdown under the lights of Lugogo Indoor Arena.

What began as a neck-and-neck contest turned into a dramatic clash that needed five extra minutes to separate the two sides. At the end of regulation, nothing could split them, 63-63 was the score after a fierce back-and-forth battle.

JT Jaguars struck first through Chuma Fadhili, who nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer to hand his side a narrow 17-15 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

But Victoria Crocs responded emphatically. With Roland Muwanguzi slicing through the defense for a driving layup, the Crocs surged ahead to take a commanding 33-24 lead into halftime.

The third quarter saw the Jaguars claw back into the contest, thanks to Ivan Otyek’s flawless shooting from the free-throw line. By the buzzer, the game was tied once again at 51-all.

The tension only escalated in the fourth quarter. With seconds left, David Mayom coolly sank both free throws to force overtime, tying the score at 63-63 and setting the stage for a grandstand finish.

But in the extra period, it was all Victoria Crocs. Their defense clamped down hard, limiting the Jaguars to just three points, while their offense did enough to close out an impressive eight-point victory.

Chuol Nyuot and David Mayom were the stars for Victoria Crocs, each posting dominant double-doubles. Nyuot tallied 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Mayom added 15 points and 13 boards.

Despite the loss, JT Jaguars’ Peter Sifuma put on a remarkable individual performance, finishing with a game-high 19 points and a staggering 26 rebounds.

With the win, Victoria Crocs improve their record to 9-8, moving to fifth place on the NBL standings with 26 points from 17 games. The playoff picture continues to heat up, and the Crocs have thrown themselves firmly into the mix.
