Kataka FC has been sanctioned by the FUFA Disciplinary Panel (FDP) for breaching Article 14 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code following violent incidents during their FUFA Big League clash against Blacks Power FC, where match officials were physically attacked.
In its ruling, the FDP condemned the conduct of individuals affiliated with Kataka FC during the match, noting that such behavior poses a serious threat to the integrity and safety of football officials.
As a result, Kataka FC has been handed a suspended deduction of two points and two goals. This means the penalty will only be activated if the club is found guilty of similar misconduct in the future.
Additionally, Kataka FC has been fined UGX 2,000,000, which must be paid in line with FUFA’s disciplinary procedures.
FUFA stressed the need for clubs to take responsibility for the actions of their players, staff, and fans: “Protecting the welfare of match officials is critical to the game. Violence in any form will not be tolerated, and clubs will be held accountable for breaches of conduct by their stakeholders,” the disciplinary statement read.
This isn’t the first time Kataka FC has been cited in disciplinary issues, and FUFA has urged the club to implement strong internal controls to avoid further sanctions.
