Uganda’s football fraternity will converge in Mbarara this October after the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) confirmed the Western Region city as the host of its 102nd Ordinary General Assembly.
The annual gathering has been scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026, with FUFA Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson formally notifying member associations and stakeholders through an official communication issued on Friday.
The General Assembly remains FUFA’s supreme decision-making forum, bringing together delegates from across the country to deliberate on the federation’s governance, review activities and make key decisions affecting the future of Ugandan football.
In line with the FUFA Statutes, the event continues to rotate among the federation’s eight regional football associations, with the Executive Committee selecting the host region. Delegates are required to receive notice at least three months before the meeting.
The Western Region last welcomed the Assembly in 2018 when Kabale hosted the gathering, making Mbarara the region’s second venue in the current rotation cycle.
Since the rotational hosting system was introduced in 2013, the Assembly has travelled across the country, with previous hosts including Jinja, Lira, Soroti, Luweero, Masindi, Kabale, Adjumani, Nakawa, Mbale, Gulu, Moroto, Wakiso and Hoima.
The 2026 edition will see Mbarara become the latest city to stage one of the most significant events on Uganda’s football calendar, where delegates will chart the course of the game both on and off the pitch.
