IntensifiesKampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC strengthened their Uganda Premier League title push with a narrow but valuable 1-0 away victory over Entebbe UPPC on Tuesday at the Fisheries Training Institute in Entebbe, a result defined by patience, control, and one moment of sharp finishing.
In a match played under bright lakeside conditions, KCCA dominated long spells of possession but were repeatedly frustrated by wasteful finishing and a disciplined home defence. The breakthrough finally arrived 18 minutes from time when Sammy Reynold Ssebadduka pounced on a defensive ball to settle a tense contest.

The victory kept KCCA firmly in the title conversation, maintaining pressure on leaders Vipers SC, who also collected maximum points on the road to stay four points clear at the summit.
KCCA set the tone early, pinning UPPC deep and creating the first real opening in the 18th minute when skipper Garvin Kizito Mugweri rose highest to meet a cross, only for goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa to tip his looping header over the bar in impressive fashion.
Five minutes later, Saidi Mayanja found space inside the area but saw his effort blocked at close range as UPPC bodies threw themselves in the way of danger. Brian Jjara then tested his luck from distance, but his attempt sailed off target.

Despite the pressure, Entebbe UPPC gradually grew into the game and nearly punished KCCA late in the first half. Abraham Kakensa Tusubira delivered a dangerous ball from the right flank six minutes before the break, forcing goalkeeper Mutwalibu Mugolofa into a crucial punch away from danger.
The first 45 minutes ended goalless, with KCCA left to rue missed opportunities. After the restart, the pattern remained the same. Ivan Ahimbisibwe tried his luck from a long-range free kick but failed to hit the target, while UPPC’s Ambrose Kigozi came close at the other end, firing over after breaking into space on the left.
Former KCCA captain Julius Poloto, now turning out for UPPC, was introduced and immediately involved, delivering a dangerous cross that was well dealt with by the KCCA backline.
Moments later, Kigozi again threatened, this time directing a header on target from Noordin Bunjo’s corner, but Mugolofa was equal to the effort. The game’s turning point arrived in the 72nd minute. A loose defensive pass was intercepted by Ssebadduka, who reacted quicker than the UPPC defence. As goalkeeper Omedwa hesitated off his line, the KCCA forward cleverly lifted the ball over him before following up to nod into an empty net.It was a composed finish that reflected KCCA’s persistence rather than their earlier efficiency.

UPPC attempted to respond quickly, with Kigozi trying his luck from range in the 77th minute, but his shot drifted wide as frustration grew for the hosts. From there, KCCA managed the game with maturity, shutting down late UPPC attacks and controlling possession to secure all three points away from home.
The win keeps the Kasasiro Boys firmly in second place on 51 points, still chasing leaders Vipers SC, who remain top of the table with 55 points after their own 2-0 away win against Buhimba United Saints. With the title race tightening and margins shrinking, KCCA’s ability to grind out results like this could prove just as important as their attacking quality in the final stretch of the season.
