This weekend, Ugandan motocross rider, Jonathan Katende will be going full throttle as he fights for points in the 2nd last round of Kenyan National Motocross Championship.

This round is very crucial in Katende’s contention of this Championship as he intends to keep the lead. At the Jamuhuri track, Kenyan riders are very fast so getting points to Katende is a must before getting to last round.

“I need to go to the last round without pressure. I need to put up my best speeds because Kenyans are devils at Jamuhuri track,” stated Katende.

The last round will be at Vipingo which is a Sandy track a very different terrain from hard pack of Jamuhuri.

George Ssemakula, father and team manager to Katende said, “Vipingo is far from Nairobi, this means it is not easy to go practice every weekend for both Ugandans and Kenyans. So it will be like a neutral ground to all of us. I think Katende will be having an edge over them since he has been doing different tracks.”

He further added that, “It’s round 8 that is more important to us and he doesn’t have to err in this one (Jamuhuri) so that in the last one, he just needs to be fit, train on the track and make sure his bike is in tiptop condition.”

Katende leads the MX65cc with 268 points followed by Armani Armani on 251, Dylan Hatanga (241), Kigen Mutuma (213) as Jedd Kagondu in fifth with 197.
