KCCA FC have strengthened their midfield ahead of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season with the acquisition of Yunus Sibira from Kitara FC, continuing an aggressive recruitment drive aimed at returning the club to the summit of Ugandan football.
The Kasasiro Boys confirmed the midfielder’s arrival on Wednesday after reaching an agreement with the reigning Stanbic Uganda Cup champions. Sibira becomes the fourth new face at Lugogo during the current transfer window, joining Elvis Ngonde, Charles Lwanga and Maxwell Owachgi. The club has also secured the future of defender Hassan Muhamud, who recently penned a one-year contract extension.

Sibira has been brought in to fill the void left by Joel Sserunjogi, who departed for league champions Vipers SC earlier in the transfer window.
The midfielder arrives in Lugogo after an outstanding campaign with Kitara, where he established himself as one of the club’s most dependable performers. He featured in 29 of the team’s 30 Uganda Premier League matches, scoring twice and providing one assist as the Royals finished fourth before lifting the 2025/26 Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Known for his energy, tactical discipline and intelligence in midfield, Sibira excels at breaking up opposition attacks, controlling possession and setting the rhythm of matches. His aerial presence, accurate distribution and ability to shield the backline are expected to strengthen KCCA’s midfield as the club prepares for the new campaign.

The move marks another step in Sibira’s steady rise through Ugandan football, having previously represented Kitara FC, Gaddafi FC, Mbarara City FC and Buhimba Saints United.
KCCA’s latest recruitment reflects the club’s determination to rebuild a squad capable of competing for domestic honours after several trophyless seasons. With key additions arriving across the pitch, the 13-time league champions hope the revamped squad can end an eight-year wait for silverware when the new season gets underway.
