Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC’s new signing Loyce Marius Mbaba says he is ready to give everything for the club after completing a two-year move to St. Mary’s Stadium ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Gabon international goalkeeper expressed his delight after putting pen to paper, saying the club’s ambition convinced him to make the move.
“I’m really, really happy to be here, really excited and looking forward to what is coming,” Mbaba said.

“The ambition shown by this club to get me here is something I can’t take for granted. I am excited for what lies ahead and can promise that I will give absolutely everything to try and help the club achieve even more success.”
The 28-year-old joins the Venoms as they bolster their squad for a demanding campaign that includes the CAF Champions League, Uganda Premier League, Stanbic Uganda Cup and the CECAFA Kagame Cup.
Mbaba brings a wealth of experience from both club and international football. He previously featured for Gabonese side Association Sportive Mangasport before spells in Ivory Coast with Stella Club and Bouaké FC.
On the international stage, the experienced shot-stopper has earned 14 competitive caps for Gabon and was part of the squad at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where he played in three matches.

His arrival comes after the departures of Alfred Mudekereza and Bashir Ssekagya as Vipers continue reshaping their squad following last season’s Uganda Premier League triumph.
Mbaba is expected to compete with Denis Kiggundu and Jack Komakech for the club’s first-choice goalkeeper position.
The Gabonese becomes Vipers’ fourth signing of the current transfer window after Jacques Mangoba, Nicholas Mwere and Joel Sserunjogi. He will wear the iconic number one shirt and is set to link up with his new teammates at St. Mary’s Stadium for training on Friday.
