Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have opened another chapter in their squad transition after parting ways with goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza following a successful four-year stint at the club.
The Kitende-based side announced the goalkeeper’s exit on Thursday, July 9, bringing an end to a period in which Mudekereza played a key role in one of the most successful eras in the club’s history.

“Vipers SC can confirm that goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza has left the club,” the club said in a statement.
The Venoms thanked the Congolese shot-stopper for his service, describing him as an important figure both on and off the pitch while wishing him success in his next chapter.

Mudekereza joined Vipers in July 2022 and quickly established himself as a dependable option between the posts. During his time at the club, he collected three Uganda Premier League titles and two Uganda Cups, contributing to Vipers’ domestic dominance.
His biggest moment came on the continental stage when he produced a memorable performance to help Vipers overcome TP Mazembe and reach the CAF Champions League group stages — a historic achievement for the Ugandan side.

The goalkeeper’s departure adds to a growing list of changes at the champions, with defender Grant Matsiko, midfielder Taddeo Lwanga and goalkeeper Bashir Ssekagya also leaving the club.
As Vipers prepare for another demanding campaign involving domestic competition and continental football, Mudekereza’s exit signals a continued rebuilding phase as the club looks to refresh its squad while maintaining its winning standards.
